Hi Jolene,

Sorry it took me awhile to get this to you. I have a hard time of it right now looking at photos of the two best friends I've ever had. I am sure you understand, and I know it will pass. I remember getting Misty and she was the alpha of your litter and what a time I had with her showing her who was boss! But we went through puppy school and some private lessons and I jumped on her back as you suggested until she stopped struggling, and that's what really did it. I promised her that even tho I was boss, I would never awsk her to do anything that would humiliate her, so we worked out a deal and things went fine after that.

What God didn't give Gunner was a big brain, but a huge heart to make up for it. He was goofy and silly and I will always remember him running and sliding on his stomach in the snow on our back hill. Where Misty was an outdoor Mal, Gunner wanted to be inside with me. He had two favorite spots. If I was on the computer, he's be right in his favorite spot 5 feet from me. If I was trying to get dinner together, he was right in front of the oven making it almost impossible for me to cook. But I never made him move, he was so happy, we worked around each other. At one point, people started dropping off cats (pregnant females) and what was I going to do, let them starve? So I brought them in (our shelters are always full) and let them have their babies, and got the babies homes. At one point I had 16 cats living here. Now, you know the reputation of Mals and cats which is totally BS, as far as my two went. Misty tolerated them, but Gunner was in love with all of them! I would come downstairs in the morning and he would have cats all over him, sleeping. It was beautiful to see, I wish I had a photo of that.

I never gave much thought to this day coming, when I would be without both of them. I got this big farmhouse and fenced in 1/2 acre for them, but Jolene even with the 9 cats I have left, it feels empty. So I'm selling the house, taking a few of the cats with me and moving into an apt. At 63 I am too old to start over with a new puppy, and I had considered doing rescue work as I am good with Mals, but my health isn't good enuff for even that, I am afraid. But I thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to share my life with these beautiful creatures. They were some of the happiest days of my life.

God Bless,

Carol   13 Nov 2017

The first two are Misty, the next one is them both trying to fit into the kiddie pool.I had a deck built right above it so they could lay out in the sun to dry off. The next ones are Gunner. The last one he has somehow squeezed between my son's legs who was putting up an arbor for me. I don't have that many pictures of them on this little tablet I'm using. My laptop crashed but luckily I had saved the photos, but there's too much on it to load in this little notebook I'm using

Hi Jolene!
Sorry it has taken me so long to get some new pics to you! Remember this 'little' guy??? He is now 111 pounds, has 6 pounds on Misty. What great dogs they are, Misty is so smart and what a great personality, and Gunner is so loving, what an awesome heart he has! I'll try to get more close-ups of Gunner for you!

Hope all is well with you and Alex

Hi Jolene!
Well, here's our girl at the lake by our new home! She can swim to her heart's content, we go almost every single day. The lake is only about a 10 minute drive from us, next Spring I plan to get a boat and I know she'll love going out in it. She now weighs 105.5 lbs. at 17 months and we are having a wonderful time

Hope all is well with you and Alex

Hi Jolene!
Well, it finally got hot enough to get out the pool that I picked up for Misty a few weeks ago! She had so much fun, I didn't think I was going to be able to get her out of it! Geez this dog loves water!

I bought an old farmhouse that I should be moved into by July 1st. However, it needs a lot of work and I think it's going to keep me occupied this spring/summer. I doubt I'll be able to make the trip down to Tennessee this year.

It has an acre of land that goes with it and I am going to fence it in for Misty, she will be so much happier, I hate having to keep her tied.

Think a fence 5 feet high will be enough? I seem to remember you telling me once that Malamutes aren't jumpers.

Hope you are well and keeping busy!

Hi Jolene!
We finally got a decent snow in PA. Misty just loves and it and wants to be outside playing all day in it. She is now 11 months old and weighs 90 pounds. Doesn't she look a lot like Bryn?
See you this Spring!

WOW, what an awesome dog! (Thumper) It's easy to see where Misty gets her good looks from..... lol Hey, Jolene, I didn't realize Misty was on your website until a few days ago, I always check on what's new with the guy next door and your new litters. I could look at puppies all day! Anyway, I told Misty she was now FAMOUS. :}

I am sending along a picture of Misty for you that I took a few days ago, her winter coat is starting to come in. I plan to move late this spring, this house I live in is just too small for us and I WANT ANOTHER PUPPY. Misty needs a playmate, as soon as we're settled in I'll contact you, would like to drive down with Misty and see what pup she takes to. You'll have to let me know a good place to make a reservation where I can have a dog. I go nowhere without her! Also, was wondering if you have a recent picture of Bryn, I'd like to see their resemblence to each other. :}

Jolene, Misty is almost 5 months old now and I cannot imagine life without her. She is absolutely the best dog I have ever had....... now, indoors, at 4 months old I can leave her downstairs and not worry about her chewing anything. She has her favorite toys and seems to know 'her stuff' from 'my stuff'.
I take her to a nearby park and she gets all the attention, kids know she's a sled dog and want to hear all about her.
She is in puppy obedience training and loved puppy kindergarten. Jolene, she was the biggest in both classes....... lol But, the other dogs loved her! Her best buddy was a miniature Jack Russel that weighs 3 lbs. Feisty little things!

Carol   August 2004

She is now 7 months old and weighs 75 pounds. I took her to an outdoor festival in PA recently, and Jolene, I must have had 150 people stop to pet her, or to ask about her! She was so awesome, great with everyone and super gentle with the kids, LOVED all of that attention!

Her best friend is a 2 1/2 pound Chiwawa, it is so funny to see them play together, I cannot believe a dog her size knows to be gentle like she does.
